Jesus spoke in Matthew 13:51-52 the following:
Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.
Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the Kingdom of Heaven
is like unto a man that is an householder,
which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
In verse 51 Jesus asked the disciples the question
“Have ye understood all these things?”
related to the following parables:
The Parable of the Sower – Matthew 13:1-9,
The Purpose of the Parables – Matthew 13:10-17,
The Parable of the Sower Explained – Matthew 13:18-23,
The Parable of the Weeds – Matthew 13:24-30,
The Mustard Seed and the Leaven – Matthew 13:31-33,
Prophecy and Parables – Matthew 13:34-35,
The Parable of the Weeds Explained – Matthew 13:36-43
The Parable of the Hidden Treasure – Matthew 13:44,
The Parable of the Pearl of Great Value – Matthew 13:45-46,
The Parable of the Net – Matthew 13:47-50,
and then finally
New and Old Treasures.
The disciples responded,
Yea, Lord.
Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the Kingdom of Heaven
is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
Scribe is the greek word grammateaus and it means – a clerk, scribe, especially a public servant, secretary, recorder.
In the Bible, a man learned in the Mosaic law and in the sacred writings, an interpreter, a teacher.
A teacher of the Kingdom of God, so instructed that from his learning and ability to
teach advantage, may redound to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Strong’s defines this word grammateaus as a writer, scribe or a secretary.
The word instructed in Matthew 13:52 is matheteuo in the greek and it means – to be a disciple of one, to follow the precepts and instructions given by the scribe/teacher, to make a disciple, to teach and to instruct.
This word matheteuo is the same greek word teach in Matthew 28:19.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Strong’s defines this word matheteuo as to become a pupil; transitively to disciple that is enroll as scholar.
And finally, the word treasure in Matthew 13:52 thesauros and it means – the place in which good and precious things are collected and laid up
in a casket, coffer, or other receptacle, in which valuables are kept.
A treasury, storehouse, repository, magazine.
The things laid up in a treasury or collected treasures.
We get the English word grammar from grammateaus, and we get the English word thesaurus from the word thesauros.
We all know that the English grammar is difficult and when one is writing, a thesaurus which is a treasure of Synonyms and Antonyms is a valuable tool when one is writing.
Jesus made a clear distinction when he said a scribe instructed unto the Kingdom of Heaven.
This distinguishes the following three types of scribes or writers:
A scribe that is discipled after the Kingdom of Heaven,
A scribe that is discipled in the Babylonian religious systems,
And a scribe that is instructed after the world (kosmos) system.
The one that is discipled after the Kingdom of Heaven only seeks to promote and publish our Heavenly’s will.
The one discipled after the Babylonian religious system is only seeking to honor and glorify him or herself.
And the scribe/writer after the world (kosmos) system is also only seeking to have a reputation or fame of renown for him or herself.
Also, the Holy Spirit of God is able to lead and guide the scribe/writer of the Kingdom of Heaven with treasures that are old and new.
The Holy Ghost is able to breathe life to a word (rhema) that was given years ago and make it as fresh as a revelation that he gave yesterday.
Praise God for this next chapter of my sonship in the Kingdom of God.
I look forward to publishing materials that all may eat and drink of the living bread that came down from Heaven.
John 6:58
This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
Live – Zao
metaphorically to be in full vigour, to be fresh, strong, efficient,
to be active, powerful, efficacious (able to produce the intended effect).
He that has ears let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the church.
